Reality of Sufism - I

These Quranic Verses are enough to condemn this Innovation 'Bida'at' called Sufiism. The very foundation of Sufiism i.e. Monasticism [Rehbaniyat - Gosha Nasheeni] is thoroughly ripped apart by Qura'an:

Sufism: a sect that has introduced many innovated practices and beliefs into the religion of Islam while claiming to be mystical

Sufism was not known in the time of the Prophet (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace) or his Companions, nor was it well known in the first three generations after them. It first appeared in Basrah in Iraq, where some people went to extremes in worship and in avoiding the worldly life, something which is admonished in the Quran:

Then We caused Our messengers to follow in their footsteps; and We caused Jesus, son of Mary, to follow, and gave him the Gospel, and placed compassion and mercy in the hearts of those who followed him. But monasticism they invented - We ordained it not for them - only seeking Allah's pleasure, and they observed it not with right observance. So We give those of them who believe their reward, but many of them are evil-livers. [AL-HADID (THE IRON) Chapter 57 - Verse 27]

Sufis in their zeal forget as to what Quran has to say about this:

True Muslims should be content with the name "Muslims given to them by Almighty Allah as He says:

And strive for Allah with the endeavour which is His right. He hath chosen you and hath not laid upon you in religion any hardship; the faith of your father Abraham (is yours). He hath named you Muslims of old time and in this (Scripture), that the messenger may be a witness against you, and that ye may be witnesses against mankind. So establish worship, pay the poor-due, and hold fast to Allah. He is your Protecting friend. A blessed Patron and a blessed Helper! [AL-HAJJ (THE PILGRIMAGE) Chapter 22 - Verse 78]

Like many other Sufi doctrines, pantheism is adopted from man-made religions and philosophies, as confirmed by S. R. Sharda in his book, Sufi Thought

"Sufi literature of the post-Timur period shows a significant change in thought content. It is pantheistic. After the fall of Muslim orthodoxy from power at the centre of India for about a century, due to the invasion of Timur, the Sufi became free from the control of the Muslim orthodoxy and consorted with Hindu saints, who influenced them to an amazing extent. The Sufi adopted Monism and wifely devotion from the Vaishnava Vedantic school and Bhakti and Yogic practices from the Vaishnava Vedantic school. By that time, the popularity of the Vedantic pantheism among the Sufis had reached its zenith."

Sufis and Quran:Sufism has numerous branches or tareeqahs, such as the Naqshbandiya, Qaadriya, Chhishtiya, Saharvardiya, Shaadhiliyyah, Rifaa’iyyah, Rehmaaniya, Rizviya, Subhaniya, Gausiya, Teejaaniyah, Sanusiyyah, Sahiliyyah etc. the followers of which all claim that their particular tareeqah is on the path of truth whilst the others are following falsehood. Islam forbids such sectarianism.

Allaah says:

Turning unto Him (only); and be careful of your duty unto Him and establish worship, and be not of those who ascribe partners (unto Him); Of those who split up their religion and became schismatics, each sect exulting in its tenets. [AL-ROOM (THE ROMANS, THE BYZANTINES) Chapter 30 - Verse 31 and 32]

The Sufis worship others than Allaah, such as Prophets and “awliya’” [“saints”], living or dead. They say, “Yaa Jeelaani”, “Yaa Rifaa’i” [calling on their awliya’], or “O Messenger of Allaah, help and save” or “O Messenger of Allaah, our dependence is on you”, etc.But Allaah forbids us to call on anyone except Him in matters that are beyond the person's capabilities. If a person does this, Allaah will count him as a mushrik, as He says:

And cry not, beside Allah, unto that which cannot profit thee nor hurt thee, for if thou didst so then wert thou of the wrong-doers. [YUNUS (JONAH) Chapter 10 - Verse 106]

The Sufis believe that there are abdaal, aqtaab and awliya’ (kinds of “saints”) to whom Allaah has given the power to run the affairs of the universe. Allaah tells us about the mushrikeen [Polytheist]

Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Who provideth for you from the sky and the earth, or Who owneth hearing and sight; and Who bringeth forth the living from the dead and bringeth forth the dead from the living; and Who directeth the course? They will say: Allah. Then say: Will ye not then keep your duty (unto Him)? [YUNUS (JONAH) Chapter 10 - Verse 31]

The mushrik [Polytheist] Arabs knew more about Allaah than these Sufis!

The Sufis turn to other than Allaah when calamity strikes, but Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

If Allah touch thee with affliction, there is none that can relieve therefrom save Him, and if He touch thee with good fortune (there is none that can impair it); for He is Able to do all things. [AL-ANAAM (CATTLE, LIVESTOCK) Chapter 6 - Verse 17]

Some Sufis believe in wahdat al-wujood (unity of existence). They do not have the idea of a Creator and His creation, instead they say that everything is creation and everything is god. The Sufis advocate extreme asceticism in this life and do not believe in taking the necessary means or in jihaad, but Allaah says:

But seek the abode of the Hereafter in that which Allah hath given thee and neglect not thy portion of the world, and be thou kind even as Allah hath been kind to thee, and seek not corruption in the earth; lo! Allah loveth not corrupters, [AL-QASAS (THE STORY, STORIES) Chapter 28 - Verse 77]

Make ready for them all thou canst of (armed) force and of horses tethered, that thereby ye may dismay the enemy of Allah and your enemy, and others beside them whom ye know not. Allah knoweth them. Whatsoever ye spend in the way of Allah it will be repaid to you in full, and ye will not be wronged. [AL-ANFAL (SPOILS OF WAR, BOOTY) Chapter 8 - Verse 60]

The Sufis refer the idea of ihsaan to their shaykhs and tell their followers to have a picture of their shaykh in mind when they remember Allaah and even when they are praying. Some of them even put a picture of their shaykh in front of them when they are praying.

The Sufis allow dancing, drums and musical instruments, and raising the voice when making dhikr, but Allaah says:

They only are the (true) believers whose hearts feel fear when Allah is mentioned, and when His revelations are recited unto them they increase their faith, and who trust in their Lord; [AL-ANFAL (SPOILS OF WAR, BOOTY) Chapter 8 Verse 2]

Moreover, you see some of them making dhikr by only pronouncing the Name of Allaah, saying, “Allaah, Allaah, Allaah.” This is bid’ah and has no meaning in Islam. They even go to the extreme of saying, “Ah, ah” or “Hu, Hu.” The Sunnah is for the Muslim to remember his Lord in words that have a true meaning for which he will be rewarded, such as saying Subhaan Allaah wa Alhamdulillah wa Laa ilaaha illa Allaah wa Allaahu akbar, and so on.

The Sufis recite love poems mentioning the names of women and boys in their dhikr gatherings, and they repeat words such as “love”, “passion”, “desire” and so on, as if they are in a gathering where people dance and drink wine and clap and shout. All of this has to do with the customs and acts of worship of the mushrikeen. Allaah says:

And their worship at the (holy) House is naught but whistling and hand-clapping. Therefore (it is said unto them): Taste of the doom because ye disbelieve. [AL-ANFAL (SPOILS OF WAR, BOOTY) Chapter 8 - Verse 35]

Some Sufis pierce themselves with rods of iron, saying, “O my grandfather!” So the shayaateen [devils came to e.g. Hallaj, Ibn Arabi and several Deobandi and Barelvi Mullahs] come to them and help them, because they are seeking the help of someone other than Allaah . Allaah says :

And he whose sight is dim to the remembrance of the Beneficent, We assign unto him a devil who becometh his comrade; [AZ-ZUKHRUF (ORNAMENTS OF GOLD, LUXURY) Chapter 43 - Verse 36]

The Sufis claim to have gnosis and knowledge of the unseen, but the Qur’aan shows them to be liars. Allaah says

Say (O Muhammad): None in the heavens and the earth knoweth the Unseen save Allah; and they know not when they will be raised (again). [AL-NAML (THE ANT, THE ANTS) Chapter 27 - Verse 65]

The Sufis claim that Allaah created the world for the sake of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), but the Qur’aan shows them to be liars. Allaah says:

I created the jinn and humankind only that they might worship Me. [ADH-DHARIYAT (THE WINNOWING WINDS) Chapter 51 - Verse 56]

Allaah, may He be glorified and exalted, addressed His Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) with the words:

And serve thy Lord till the Inevitable cometh unto thee. [AL-HIJR (AL-HIJR, STONELAND, ROCK CITY) Chapter 15 - Verse 99]

The Sufis claim that they can see Allaah in this life, but the Qur’aan shows them to be liars. Allaah says:

And when Moses came to Our appointed tryst and his Lord had spoken unto him, he said: My Lord! Show me (Thy Self), that I may gaze upon Thee. He said: Thou wilt not see Me, but gaze upon the mountain! If it stand still in its place, then thou wilt see Me. And when his Lord revealed (His) glory to the mountain He sent it crashing down. And Moses fell down senseless. And when he woke he said: Glory unto Thee! I turn unto Thee repentant, and I am the first of (true) believers. [AL-ARAF (THE HEIGHTS) Chapter 7 - Verse 143]

The Sufis are blindly loyal to their shaykhs, even when what they go against the words of Allaah and His Messenger. But Allaah, may He be exalted, says:

O ye who believe! Be not forward in the presence of Allah and His messenger, and keep your duty to Allah. Lo! Allah is Hearer, Knower. [AL-HUJRAAT (THE PRIVATE APARTMENTS, THE INNER APARTMENTS) Chapter 49 - Verse 1]

The Sufis use talismans, letters and numbers for making decisions and for making amulets and charms and so on. The Sufis do not restrict themselves to the specific blessings on the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) that were narrated from him. They invented new formulas that involve seeking his blessings and other kinds of blatant shirk which are unacceptable to the one on whom they are sending blessings. With regard to the question of the whether the Sufi shaykhs have some kind of contact, this is true, but their contact is with the shayaateen, not with Allaah, so they inspire one another with adorned speech as a delusion (or by way of deception), as Allaah says:

Thus have We appointed unto every prophet an adversary - devils of humankind and jinn who inspire in one another plausible discourse through guile. If thy Lord willed, they would not do so; so leave them alone with their devising; [AL-ANAAM (CATTLE, LIVESTOCK) Chapter 6 - Verse 112]

Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? They descend on every sinful, false one. They listen eagerly, but most of them are liars. As for poets, the erring follow them. Hast thou not seen how they stray in every valley, And how they say that which they do not? [AL-SHUARA (THE POETS) Chapter 26 - Verses 221, 222, 223, 224, 225, 226]

Sufism links itself with Quran and Hadith and then they violate the very Islam in their pracitices, they violate these:

QURAN and HADITH:

English Translation:

And (remember) when Luqman said unto his son, when he was exhorting him: O my dear son! Ascribe no partners unto Allah. Lo! to ascribe partners (unto Him) is a tremendous wrong [LUQMAN (LUQMAN) Chapter 31 - Verse 13]

English Translation:

Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allah in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin [Women - Surah An Nisa'a - Chapter 4 - Verse 48]

English Translation:

And Allah judges with truth, while those to whom they invoke besides Him, cannot judge anything. Certainly, Allah! He is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer. [AL-GHAFIR (THE FORGIVER (GOD) Chapter 40 - Verse 20]

Hadith Qudsi:

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: Allah (glorified and exalted be He) said: I am so self-sufficient that I am in no need of having an associate. Thus he who does an action for someone else's sake as well as Mine will have that action renounced by Me to him whom he associated with Me. It was related by Muslim (also by Ibn Majah).

Hadith Qudsi:

On the authority of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say: Allah the Almighty said: O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great at it. It was related by at-Tirmidhi (also by Ahmad ibn Hanbal). Its chain of authorities is sound.

Hadith Qudsi:

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: Allah Almighty has said: The son of Adam denied Me and he had no right to do so. And he reviled Me and he had no right to do so. As for his denying Me, it is his saying: He will not remake me as He made me at first (1) - and the initial creation [of him] is no easier for Me than remaking him. As for his reviling Me, it is his saying: Allah has taken to Himself a son, while I am the One, the Everlasting Refuge. I begot not nor was I begotten, and there is none comparable to Me. (1) i.e., bring me back to life after death. It was related by al-Bukhari (also by an-Nasa'i).

Quran and Hadith on Grave/Shrine Worshipping [Qabar/Peer Parasti]:

English Translation:

Those unto whom they cry beside Allah created naught, but are themselves created. (They are) dead, not living. And they know not when they will be raised. [AN-NAHL (THE BEE) Chapter 16 - Verse 20 and 21]

English Translation:

Nor are the living equal with the dead. Lo! Allah maketh whom He will to hear. Thou canst not reach who are in the graves. {FATIR (THE ANGELS, ORIGNATOR) Chapter 35 - Verse 22]

And who is further astray than those who instead of Allah, pray unto such as hear not their prayer until the Day of Resurrection, and are unconscious of their prayer. [AL-AHQAF (THE WIND-CURVED SANDHILLS, THE DUNES) Chapter Chapter 46 - Verse 5]

Holy Prophet Muhammad {PBUH} said: It is better that one of you should sit on live coals which will burn his clothes and the heat should mark his skin than that he should sit on grave. {Muslim}.

Holy Prophet Muhammad {PBUH} forbade that the graves should be plastered or they should be used as sitting places (for the people) or a building should be erected over them. {Muslim}.

Holy Prophet Muhammad {PBUH} said: Do not travel for any mosque except Mecca, Medina and Al-Aqsa. {Bukhari and Muslim}.

Holy Prophet Muhammad {PBUH} said: Do not make my grave a place for festival you just recite Darood as Allah conveys your Darood to me. {Nisai}.

Holy Prophet Muhammad {PBUH} had cursed those women visit graves. {Masnad Imam Ahmed Bin Hanbal, Tirmidhi, and Ibn-e-Maja}.

Holy Prophet Muhammad {PBUH} prayed: O Allah! Don’t let them make my grave an Idol lest it be worshipped. Then said Curse of Allah descended upon those who turned the graves of their Prophets {PBUT} into mosques. {Mauta Imam Malik}.

Holy Prophet Muhammad {PBUH} said: Be warned of the practice of those people who used to turn the graves of their Prophets and Saints into mosques I forbade you. {Muslim}.

“Jabir said : Allaah’s Messenger forbade that the graves should be plastered or, they be used as sitting places (for the people), or a building should be built over them” [Sahih Muslim]

I heard the messenger of Allaah commanding (us) to level the grave. 'Abdullaah Ibn Sharjeel Hasanah said:

"I saw ‘Uthmaan Ibn ‘Affaan order the leveling of the graves. So it was said to him: 'This is the grave of Umm ‘Amr the daughter of ‘Uthmaan!' However, he commanded that it too should be leveled." [Related by Ibn Abee Shaybah in al-Musannaf and Aboo Zur‘ah in at-Taareekh]

From Abul-Hayyaaj al-Asadee who said: "‘Alee Ibn Abee Taalib said to me: 'Shall I not send you for what the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) sent me? That you deface all statues and pictures and that you level all elevated graves." [Related by Muslim , Aboo Daawood and an-Nisaa‘ee]

Jundub Ibn ‘Abdullaah al-Bajalee said that he heard the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) say – five days before he died: "Verily those before you took the graves of their Prophets and righteous people as places of worship, so do not take the graves as places of worship. Indeed I forbid you from this!" [Related by Muslim, and Aboo ‘Awaanah]

From Aboo Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: "O Allaah, do not turn my grave into an idol. May the curse of Allaah be upon those who take the graves of their Prophets as places of worship." [Related by Ahmad, Ibn Sa‘d]

Aboo Burdah said: "Aboo Moosaa al-Ash‘aree advised us before he died, saying: 'You should hasten with my janaazah…and do not put in my lahad (a cleavage in the side of the grave where the body is placed) anything that will come between me and the earth, nor build anything over my grave. So bear witness that I am free of those women who shave their heads, tear their clothes or beat their cheeks.' They said: 'Did you hear anything about this?' He said: 'Yes, from the Messenger of Allaah sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam)!'" [Related by Musnad Ahmad Bin Hanbal]

'Abdullaah Ibn Sharjeel Hasanah said: "I saw ‘Uthmaan Ibn ‘Affaan order the leveling of the graves.

That you deface all statues and pictures and that you level all elevated graves.'" [Related by Muslim, Aboo Daawood, an-Nisaa‘ee]

So if we cannot construct anything on the grave then how can Mazar exist, and when there is no existence of Mazar, where is the question of visiting it. Most of the Muslim Kings who invaded India were disciples of several Sufi Orders [which is itself a Bida'at (innovation) e.g. Mughals were disciples of Naqshbandi Order (their practices are worst kind of polytheism).

BIDAH (INNOVATIONS in Allaah's religion)

Linguistically Bid'ah (innovation) means 'a newly invented matter'.

The Sharee'ah definition of Bid'ah is: "A newly invented way [beliefs or action] in the religion, in imitation of the Sharee'ah (prescribed Law), by which nearness to Allaah is sought, [but] not being supported by any authentic proof - neither in its foundations, nor in the manner in which it is performed." Al-I'tisaam of ash-Shaatibee.

The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said: "Every innovation is misguidance and going astray" Reported by Abu Daawood, at-Tirmidhee.

And he (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) also said: "… and every innovation is misguidance and all misguidance is in the Hellfire." Reported by an-Nasaa'ee from Jaabir bin Abdullaah.

The Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) also warned against the People of Innovation, from befriending, supporting or taking from them saying: "Whoever innovates or accommodates an innovator then upon him is the curse of Allaah, His Angels and the whole of mankind." Reported by Bukhari and Muslim.

And in his footsteps, we find the Noble Companions and the Taabi'een after them warning from the danger of innovations upon the Ummah, its people and their unity, since it is innovations which have divided the Ummah and split it asunder.

Ibn Abbaas said: "Indeed the most detestable of things to Allaah are the innovations. " Reported by al-Bayhaqee in as-Sunan al-Kubraa

Ibn Umar said: "Every innovation is misguidance, even if the people see it as something good." Reported by Abu Shaamah.

Ahmad Ibn Hanbal once said, "The greatest sinner (faasiq) from the Ahl-Sunnah Wal Jamaah is better than the most pious person from Ahl-"Bid'ah" .

'Abdullaah ibn Mas'ood, said, "Follow and do not innovate, for you have been given that which is sufficient and every innovation is misguidance. " Reported by Abu Khaithamah in Kitaab Ul-'Ilm.

Al-'Irbaad ibn Saariyah, , reports that the Prophet said, ".... I have left you upon clear guidance. Its night is like its day. No one deviates from it after me except that he is destroyed." Reported by Ahmad, Ibn Maajah and al-Haakim.

Private Pakistani TV Channel 'HUM TV' [April 2008] telecast two episodesSpecial Talk show hosted by Mr Javed Qazi interviewed Former ISI Chief Lt. General Retd Hamid Gul. As usual Mr. Hamid Gul was blabbering lies anddistorted version of recent history as if people [170 Million Pakistanis are some kind of fools and can be taken for a ride]

Strangely when Mr Javed Qazi asked about Jihad and Sufism [Mentioning Deviant Mansoor Hallaj while praisisng Hallaj]. Mr Hamid Gul without even having the basic knowledge of Islam and for justifying the anarchy he and his cohorts created in the name of Jihad and at the same time not angering the host bluntly said "who said that the Sufis are against Jihad e.g. Imam Shamil [A Chechen Freedom Fighter] was a Sufi of Naqshbandi order.

Keep in mind while reading the lies above that any Worship (that includes Jihad) mixed with Shirk [Polytheism] is not acceptable in Islam no matter how Holy and Pious the targets are. Period

1- Lo! Allah forgiveth not that a partner should be ascribed unto Him. He forgiveth (all) save that to whom He will. Whoso ascribeth partners to Allah, he hath indeed invented a tremendous sin. [AN-NISA (WOMEN) Chapter 4 - Verse 48]

2- And (remember) when Luqman said unto his son, when he was exhorting him: O my dear son! Ascribe no partners unto Allah. Lo! to ascribe partners (unto Him) is a tremendous wrong - [LUQMAN (LUQMAN) Chapter 31 - Verse 13]

Lets have a look on the Deviant Beliefs of NAQSHBANDI TAREEQAH [Full of Polytheist Beliefs Kufr Aur Shirk Say Labraiz]and equally Devaint and Rampantly astray Mansoor Hallaj [Full of Polytheist Beliefs Kufr AurShirk Say Labraiz]:

1- POLYTHEISM [SHIRK] IN THE NAQSHBANDI TAREEQAH:

NAQSHBANDI TAREEQAH contains several jaahilee [ignorant] concepts, among which: Du`aa to Allah to derive from the Grand Sheikh (Al-Daghistani) from his spiritual care even from the grave.

"We derive our spiritual power from his heart center."

"…the breaths of Allah’s Saints give life to their followers, to their spiritual sons and daughters."

Claim that to stand firmly in the face of our enemies:

the lower self, Shaytaan, vain desires and worldliness, "we need his support," and that "without such a strong support a person will be vanquished."

Their saying, "Therefore, we seek our Grandsheikh’s support by saying: "Meded Ya Sayyidi", "Support, oh my Master." "You must call upon your Grandsheikh in such a manner when you are in need of support, then that support may reach you."

Their claim that guidance reaches to our hearts through the Saints.

Their saying, "you must look for the support of the Saints in a Universe in which you are totally weak."

This article is useful for explaining how some people fall in shirk in all aspects of Tauheed [Monotheism]:

Shirk in Tauheed ur-Ruboobeeyah:

Their claim that the Grandsheikh can bring good fortune or remove calamities; he can govern the affairs of this world and he is believed to have power and influence besides Allaah, or that Allaah creates creations that can cause harm and benefit to His creatures. The Grandsheikh is one upon whom we are dependent for guidance and spiritual strength.

Shirk in Tauheed ul-`Ibaadah:

Directing one’s acts of worship, such as du`aa (supplication), seeking help, tawakkul (trust and reliance), and hope for good fortune to other than Allaah. Shirk in Tauheed ul-Asmaa’i was-Sifaat: Attributing divine power to Allaah’s creation. Attributing to man the power to keep a watchful eye on his followers, whether alive or dead, the power and ability of guiding people’s hearts that belongs to Allah alone, and ability to answer prayers of Allaah’s creation and provide them with aid.

Refutation from the Qur’aan:

And who is further astray than those who, instead of Allah, pray unto such as hear not their prayer until the Day of Resurrection, and are unconscious of their prayer, And when mankind are gathered (to the Judgment) will become enemies for them, and will become deniers of having been worshipped. [AL-AHQAF (THE WIND-CURVED SANDHILLS, THE DUNES) Chapter 46 - Verse 5 and 6]

Thee (alone) we worship; Thee (alone) we ask for help. [AL-FATIHA (THE OPENING) Chapter 1 - Verse 5]

Attribute they as partners to Allah those who created naught, but are themselves created, And cannot give them help, nor can they help themselves? [AL-ARAF (THE HEIGHTS) Chapter 7 - Verse 191 and 192]

Lo! those on whom ye call beside Allah are slaves like unto you. Call on them now, and let them answer you, if ye are truthful! AL-ARAF (THE HEIGHTS) Chapter 7 - Verse 194]

He said: Worship ye then instead of Allah that which cannot profit you at all, nor harm you? [AL-ANBIYA (THE PROPHETS) Chapter 21 - Verse 66]

He maketh the night to pass into the day and He maketh the day to pass into the night. He hath subdued the sun and moon to service. Each runneth unto an appointed term. Such is Allah, your Lord; His is the Sovereignty; and those unto whom ye pray instead of Him own not so much as the white spot on a date-stone. If ye pray unto them they hear not your prayer, and if they heard they could not grant it you. On the Day of Resurrection they will disown association with you. None can inform you like Him Who is Aware. [FATIR (THE ANGELS, ORIGNATOR) Chapter 35 - Verse 13 and 14]

Ye serve instead of Allah only idols, and ye only invent a lie. Lo! those whom ye serve instead of Allah own no provision for you. So seek your provision from Allah, and serve Him, and give thanks unto Him, (for) unto Him ye will be brought back. [AL-ANKABOOT (THE SPIDER) Chapter 29 - Verse 17]

Refutation from Hadith:

"If you ask in prayer ask only Allah, and if you seek help, seek it only from Allaah." [At-Tirmidhee, an-Nawawi’s Forth Hadith]

"He who dies while praying to someone as rival to Allaah, the reward for such a person shall be the Fire of Hell." (Narrated by Al-Bukhaaree)

"O people of Quraish, sell your own souls. I will not be of any help to you before Allaah; O Abbaas ibn Abdul-Muttalib, I will not be of any help to you before Allaah; O Safiyah, aunt of Allaah’s Messenger, I will not be of any help to you before Allaah; O Faatimah, daughter of Muhammad, ask of my wealth what you wish, I will be of no avail to you before Allaah." (Narrated by al-Bukhaaree)

During the days of the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, there was a hypocrite who used to harm the believers, some of them (the believers) said: "Come (support) with us while we appeal to Allaah’s Messenger for assistance against this hypocrite." The Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, replied, "Verily, no one should seek to me for assistance.Indeed, it is Allaah Who is to be sought for assistance and help." (at-Tabaraanee)

Saying of a scholar, Ibn Rajab Hanbali , Rahmatullaahi `alayhi: "Know that it is an obligation to invoke Allah Alone in Du`aa, and not His creation. Invoking entails showing humiliation, destitution, need and poverty by the one who is invoking while admitting that the one who is being invoked has power over delivering such matters as removing hardship, delivering the need, bringing about benefit and fending off harm. Admitting (and showing) humility and meekness can only be revealed to Allaah, Alone, for this is the essence of worship." Proofs are numerous, since Shirk is crystal clear in their article, "wa laa Hawla wa la quwwata illaa billaah" (and there is no ability or power save by Allaah).
